Carney is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland, northeast of Baltimore between Parkville and Perry Hall. Harford Road, one of the old routes out of the city, runs through it as a main spine. The Baltimore Beltway passes close by. These two strong lines organise everything else on the map.
Most of Carney grew as a residential suburb in the second half of the twentieth century, and its layout shows it. Curving streets, loops and cul-de-sacs branch off the main roads, with shopping centres and schools along the busier routes. Narrow strips of woodland follow the small stream valleys and leave soft gaps in an otherwise dense pattern of homes.
