Condeúba lies in the southwest of Bahia, on the upland sertão close to the border with Minas Gerais. It is a small town serving a large rural municipality. On the map it appears as a compact grid of streets in open country, among pastures, scrub, small farms and unpaved roads that lead to neighbouring communities and districts.
The region is semi-arid, with rain concentrated in a short wet season, and the countryside shows it in seasonal streams, small reservoirs and ponds, and farmland arranged around access to water.
