Separated districts
The city's residential areas form distinct clusters with open ground between them, a planned layout that gives the poster several focal points rather than a single dense centre.

Darhan Map Poster & Print
Darhan was founded in 1961 as an industrial centre, built with support from the Soviet Union and other socialist countries. That origin is visible from above: rather than growing outward from an old core, the city was placed in deliberate blocks, with residential districts of apartment buildings arranged in wide, regular groups and plenty of open ground between them.
The Trans-Mongolian Railway runs through the city on its way between Ulaanbaatar and the Russian border, and it divides Darhan into distinct parts, commonly known as the old and new districts. Around the edges the streets thin out quickly into the broad valley of the Kharaa River, where the map becomes almost empty steppe and scattered tracks.
A Darhan map poster reflects a city that was drawn on a planning table before it was built. The shapes are generous, the gaps between neighbourhoods are wide, and the railway acts as a strong spine. In a minimalist style, those separated clusters of streets sit on the paper like islands in open land.

Trans-Mongolian Railway
The main line between Ulaanbaatar and the northern border passes through Darhan, drawing a long, steady line across the map that ties the separate parts of the city together.
Kharaa River valley
Beyond the built-up areas the map opens into the wide river valley, where only a few roads and tracks cross the page, framing the city with calm empty space.

Kwa nini Darhan
Ramani yenye maana
Darhan is a city many people moved to for work, study or family, and its planned shape is part of its identity. A map poster records that particular arrangement of districts and railway in a way a photograph cannot, and it suits a home far from Mongolia as much as one nearby.
Add your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the district you lived in or the year you arrived, and pick from Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. It comes as a $9 HD file or as a printed poster.
