Rail through town
The railroad cuts a straight line through downtown, and the older streets are laid out alongside it. It is the clearest single feature on the map.

Dickson Map Poster & Print
Dickson is in Middle Tennessee, about forty miles west of Nashville, in the rolling, wooded Highland Rim. The town grew up around a railroad line, and that origin still shows from above. A compact downtown lines the tracks, and residential streets fan out across the low hills. Commercial strips and newer subdivisions extend toward the interstate interchanges to the south.
The town's railroad past is kept at the Clement Railroad Hotel Museum, a former hotel downtown. The building is linked to the family of Frank G. Clement, the Tennessee governor who was born in Dickson. Today the city serves as a regional centre for Dickson County, with a quieter pace than the metro area to the east.
A Dickson map poster shows a typical but satisfying American small-city form. There is a straight rail line through the middle and a small grid beside it, and the streets become more curving and cul-de-sac shaped as they climb into the surrounding hills. In black and white, that contrast between old and new street patterns is easy to read.

Hillside subdivisions
Away from the centre, curving streets and cul-de-sacs follow the contours of the Highland Rim. They add softer, looping shapes around the edges of the poster.
Interstate edge
Interstate 40 runs south of town, and the commercial roads connecting to it form a busy spine that pulls the city's outline southward.
