Edinburg Map Poster & Print
Edinburg lies in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, a short distance north of McAllen and the Mexican border. On a map it is almost entirely flat. The streets follow a regular grid, and long, straight roads mark out the section lines of the old agricultural land. Newer subdivisions fill the spaces between them, while fields and former citrus groves remain at the edges.
The city is the county seat of Hidalgo County, and its historic courthouse area forms the centre of the older town. Edinburg is also home to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, whose large campus is one of the main features on the map. The city has grown quickly alongside McAllen and neighbouring towns into one of the largest urban areas along the border.
An Edinburg map poster shows the strict geometry of the valley. Straight roads cross each other at right angles, the old downtown grid lies at the centre, and the campus and larger parcels break up the pattern. In black and white, the design has a clean, almost architectural quality.

University campus
The UTRGV campus occupies a large block near the centre, with open space and buildings that stand out from the residential grid.
County seat downtown
The older downtown around the courthouse keeps the tightest blocks in the city, the original core of a town that has grown in all directions.
