Gersthofen Map Poster & Print
Gersthofen sits directly north of Augsburg in Bavarian Swabia, on the east bank of the river Lech. The map is built from several strong parallel lines. The river and its accompanying canal run along one side of town, rail and main roads follow the valley, and the A8 motorway crosses nearby. Housing and commercial areas fill the spaces in between.
The town grew in the twentieth century around a large chemical works. Industrial land still takes up a big, clearly defined block on the map, with its own grid of access roads and sidings. Residential streets spread out from the older village centre in a mix of curving estates and straight postwar rows.
Gersthofen is also known for its balloon museum, a nod to the town's long association with hot-air and gas balloon flight. A Gersthofen map poster brings together the waterways, the transport corridors and the working town, and shows a place defined as much by infrastructure as by its old core.

Industrial park
A large industrial area, laid out on its own internal grid, sits next to the residential streets. Its size and regularity stand out clearly in black and white.
Transport corridor
Railway, main roads and the nearby A8 motorway all converge here. The overlapping lines show how closely Gersthofen is tied to Augsburg and the rest of Bavaria.
