Güstrow Map Poster & Print
Güstrow lies in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, south of Rostock, in a landscape of fields, woods and lakes. It was once a ducal residence, and its Renaissance castle, Schloss Güstrow, is one of the most important of its kind in northern Germany. The town is also closely linked with the sculptor Ernst Barlach, who lived and worked here for much of his life.
From above, the old town forms a compact oval of streets around the market square and the cathedral, whose interior holds Barlach's famous Floating Angel. Green belts mark the line of former fortifications, and the castle stands in its gardens on the edge of the centre. To the south, the Inselsee lake adds a broad shape of water on the town's outskirts.
A Güstrow map poster captures the old town's clear, enclosed plan and the way it opens onto parks, lakes and surrounding countryside. In black and white, the medieval street pattern reads almost like a diagram, with the castle grounds and lakes giving generous space around it. It is a refined image for those who know the town or admire Barlach's work.

Schloss Güstrow
The Renaissance castle and its gardens sit at the edge of the old town, creating a larger open shape distinct from the dense street pattern next to it.
Inselsee lake
South of the town, the Inselsee appears as a large expanse of water, part of the lake and forest landscape that surrounds Güstrow.
