Halver is a small town in the Märkischer Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia, on the western edge of the Sauerland uplands. The centre sits on relatively high ground, and from it roads fan out across rolling hills toward a large number of outlying hamlets and farmsteads, which give the municipality its dispersed, intricate pattern on the map.
The landscape is one of short valleys, streams, meadows and patches of forest, typical of the country where the Sauerland meets the Bergisches Land.
