Jenks lies just south of Tulsa on the Arkansas River, where the broad, sandy channel bends through a flat river plain. On a map the river is the dominant feature, running along the edge of town, while the old downtown forms a small grid and newer subdivisions spread outward in curving streets and cul-de-sacs toward the surrounding farmland and the mile-square road grid.
Jenks is home to the Oklahoma Aquarium, set beside the river near the Creek Turnpike crossing, and its Main Street has long been known for antique shops.
