Kafrul is a thana in north-central Dhaka, and on a map it sits along one of the city's most striking boundaries. To one side lies the Dhaka Cantonment, with its wide roads, open fields and sparse buildings; to the other, some of the densest residential neighbourhoods in the capital, with narrow lanes branching in every direction.
