Kandukūr lies in coastal Andhra Pradesh, on the plains south of Ongole. Seen from above, the town is a close-packed centre of narrow streets with newer colonies spreading along the roads that lead out of it. The surroundings are flat and agricultural, marked by irrigation tanks, field boundaries and the long, straight lines of roads connecting the town with villages and the coast.
