The Ob floodplain
Opposite the town, the Ob divides into channels around low islands and sandbars. It is a wide, intricate water pattern that fills much of the poster.

Kolpashevo Map Poster & Print
Kolpashevo lies in Tomsk Oblast, on the Ob River, in the forested lowlands of western Siberia. The town stretches along the riverbank as a long, narrow strip, and its streets run mostly parallel to the water. Across from it, the Ob spreads into a broad floodplain of secondary channels, sandbars and islands.
The river has always shaped this place. The bank here erodes, and the edge of the town has moved over the decades as water claimed the steep shore. In 1979 this erosion exposed a mass grave from the Stalin era, an event that is still remembered as part of the town's history.
Inland, the town gives way to Siberian taiga crossed by a few roads. A Kolpashevo map poster contrasts the orderly streets with the Ob's restless, braided channels. The river dominates the composition, which is how it feels on the ground too.

Riverbank strip
Kolpashevo's streets stretch along the high bank, following the river's line. This elongated form is typical of Siberian river towns.
Taiga surroundings
Behind the town, dense forest and wetland show up as open space. Only a few roads cross it, which underlines how isolated the place is.
