Massaguet lies in the Hadjer-Lamis region of Chad, on the flat Sahelian plain north of the capital, N'Djamena. It sits on the road leading north from the capital, and on a map it appears as a compact cluster of streets and compounds set against open land. No river or coastline shapes the town. Its outline comes from roads and the spacing of its houses.
That openness is what gives the place its character from above. Tracks and roads head out in several directions and fade into the surrounding plain. Inside the town, the plots form an irregular pattern of blocks rather than a planned grid, with small differences in density showing where the centre sits.
