Bastide street grid
Parallel streets laid out in the twelfth century still cross at regular angles. They form one of the clearest planned medieval layouts in southern France and give the print a strong, even texture.

Montauban Map Poster & Print
Montauban was founded in 1144 as a planned town, and the plan still reads clearly from above. Straight streets cross at right angles on a raised terrace above the Tarn and meet at the arcaded Place Nationale in the centre. Around that core the grid softens into later boulevards. The river curves along the western edge, and the smaller Tescou flows in beside the old town.
The Pont Vieux, a fourteenth-century brick bridge, carries the main road across the Tarn and links the historic centre with the Villebourbon district on the opposite bank. On a black-and-white print the bridge becomes a short, firm stroke across the water, the point where the two halves of the city are stitched together. Outer ring roads and newer suburbs spread out from there across the flat farmland of the valley.
The painter Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres was born here, and the museum that carries his name stands beside the bridge in a former bishop's palace. A Montauban map poster keeps the river, the bridge and the grid at the centre of the composition. It strips away colour so that the logic of a twelfth-century town plan can be read at a glance on the wall.

Pont Vieux
Completed in the fourteenth century, the brick bridge over the Tarn is still the city's defining crossing. It draws a single decisive line between the old centre and Villebourbon.
Place Nationale
The arcaded central square shows as a neat open block within the grid. It is a small void, and the surrounding streets are arranged around it with notable regularity.

Kwa nini Montauban
Ramani yenye maana
Montauban suits people who like order in a map: a grid, a river, a bridge and little else competing for attention. It works for someone who grew up among its brick streets, studied there or passed through on the road north from Toulouse, and wants a quiet reminder on the wall.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line to add a family name or the date of a move. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD files cost $9, or you can order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
