Morro da Fumaça Map Poster & Print
Morro da Fumaça, whose name translates as "hill of smoke", is a town in the south of Santa Catarina, inland from the coast and near the city of Criciúma. The area was settled largely by Italian immigrants, and the surrounding land is gently hilly, with farms, small valleys and pockets of woodland between the towns of the region.
The centre has a compact grid, but the terrain soon breaks it up. Streets outside the core bend with the slopes, split into branches and end in cul-de-sacs, which gives the map a less regular, more organic look. Roads to neighbouring towns cross the frame, and patches of open land lie between clusters of houses.
A Morro da Fumaça map poster works well for anyone who knows the town from growing up there or visiting family. The contrast between the straight central streets and the looser edges is clearly visible, and at larger sizes the poster shows the small bends and side roads in fine detail.

Hill-shaped streets
Away from the centre, roads curve and branch to fit the undulating ground, so the street pattern loosens into irregular, contour-guided lines.
Regional roads
Roads leading towards Criciúma and other neighbouring towns cross the area, connecting Morro da Fumaça to the wider network of southern Santa Catarina.
