New Orleans Map Poster & Print
New Orleans is shaped by water on almost every side. The Mississippi curves around it in the deep bend that gave it the name Crescent City, while Lake Pontchartrain spreads across the north. Between them, the streets follow the river's curve, so blocks fan out in wedges and avenues converge at unusual angles.
Founded by the French in 1718, the city kept its original grid in the French Quarter, the Vieux Carré, a neat rectangle of streets beside the river. Much of the city lies below sea level and depends on levees, canals and pumps, a fact that shapes its map as much as its history.
A New Orleans map poster brings together the Quarter, the Garden District along St. Charles Avenue, the green expanse of City Park and the long straight canals leading toward the lake. It is a city known for jazz, Mardi Gras and its food, but seen from above, it is the geometry of the river bend that stays in mind.

French Quarter
The original colonial grid sits beside the river as a compact rectangle of streets, instantly recognisable from above and still the historic core of the city.
Lake Pontchartrain
The lake fills the northern edge of the map with open water, joined to the city by drainage canals and bordered by a long, straight lakefront.
