Nicolás Romero is a municipality in the State of México, on the north-western edge of the Mexico City metropolitan area. Its landscape is uneven, rising from the valley toward wooded mountains, and on a map this shows immediately. Rather than a single grid, the streets form many small clusters that follow ridges, wrap around slopes and break off at ravines.
The municipality takes its name from a nineteenth-century liberal fighter who was executed during the French intervention in Mexico.
