Norfolk Map Poster & Print
Norfolk occupies a low, deeply indented piece of land in southeastern Virginia, with water on nearly every side. The Elizabeth River and its branches lie to the west and south, the Lafayette River cuts into the middle, Hampton Roads lies to the northwest, and Chesapeake Bay runs along the northern shore. On the map, the city looks like a cluster of peninsulas separated by creeks.
Naval Station Norfolk, in the northwest corner of the city, is the largest naval base in the world, and its long rows of piers are among the most distinctive shapes on the map. Downtown faces Portsmouth across the Elizabeth River. Older neighbourhoods such as Ghent spread north along curving streets that follow the water.
A Norfolk map poster makes the most of how land and water meet: the finger piers, the shipping channels, the bridge-tunnel heading toward Hampton, and the beaches of Ocean View along the bay. In a monochrome style the shoreline becomes the dominant line, and every inlet and creek reads clearly, even at smaller print sizes.

Elizabeth River waterfront
Downtown sits on the Elizabeth River facing Portsmouth. Docks, a riverfront park and branching river channels shape the southern part of the city.
Ghent and The Hague
In Ghent, streets curve around The Hague, a small inlet. The result is one of the most graceful neighbourhood layouts in the city, and it stands out clearly at larger print sizes.
