Randolph is a township in Morris County, New Jersey, in the hilly country west of Morristown. On a map it looks very different from an urban grid. Instead it shows a network of winding roads, curving streets and cul-de-sacs spread across wooded ridges and valleys. Neighbourhoods were fitted into the terrain rather than placed on a plan.
A few main roads cross the township and connect the scattered residential areas, schools and small commercial centres. Large areas of woodland, parks and open space remain between the neighbourhoods. Ponds and small lakes appear among the trees. The County College of Morris campus is located within the township and forms one of the larger clearly defined sites on the map.
