Rockville Centre is a village in Nassau County on the South Shore of Long Island. Its map is a neat, dense grid of residential streets, a compact downtown and a Long Island Rail Road line running along an embankment through the middle. Parks and small ponds break up the blocks, and neighbouring communities press close on every side.
The village is the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre, and St. Agnes Cathedral stands a short walk from the downtown streets. Frequent trains to Manhattan have made Rockville Centre a popular commuter village for generations of New Yorkers.
