Sātalkheri is a small town in southeastern Rajasthan, in the plateau country toward the border with Madhya Pradesh. From above, its streets form a compact settlement: a dense core of narrow lanes, a few wider roads through it and newer houses spreading outward along the approaches. Cultivated fields surround the town and are divided into irregular plots.
The landscape here is broad and open, crossed by roads and tracks that connect the town with neighbouring villages and larger centres of the region.
