Shchyolkovo Map Poster & Print
Shchyolkovo lies in Moscow Oblast, northeast of the capital, on the banks of the Klyazma River. On a map the river sets the rhythm. It loops through the town in slow bends, and the streets arrange themselves around its crossings, so the town has no single centre. Instead it reads as a series of districts tied together by bridges.
The town grew as an industrial settlement, and its textile mills were long known for silk and cotton weaving. That past still shows from above in the large rectangular plots near the river and the railway, next to Soviet-era residential blocks set in green courtyards. Dense forest surrounds much of the town, so its edges look sharp on paper.
A Shchyolkovo map poster records all of this in fine lines: the curving river, the straight cut of the railway, the orderly apartment quarters and the dark mass of woodland around them. Shchyolkovo is also closely associated with the cosmonaut training centre at nearby Star City, and many residents' family stories connect to it.

Railway corridor
The suburban line from Moscow runs through the town in a long, straight stroke that contrasts with the river's meanders and marks the old industrial zones.
Forest edges
Pine and birch woods close in on several sides. On the poster they appear as open, unbuilt space that frames the town clearly.
