The Elbe crossing
The river runs broad and slow along the eastern edge of town, and the bridge is the one line that connects the compact centre to the open floodplain opposite.

Torgau Map Poster & Print
Torgau sits on the Elbe in northern Saxony, and from above the river is the first thing you notice. It swings past the town in a broad curve, with wide meadows on the eastern side and the historic centre packed tightly onto the western bank. A single road crossing links the two sides, so the whole layout seems to lean towards the water.
The old town is a dense cluster of short, irregular streets around the market square, with Hartenfels Castle standing at the edge closest to the river. Its courtyard and wings appear as a solid block against the finer grain of the houses around it. Newer districts spread west and south in looser blocks, with rail lines and allotment gardens marking the edges.
Torgau is known internationally for 25 April 1945, when American and Soviet troops met on the Elbe here, an event remembered as Elbe Day. The town is also linked to the Reformation, and Katharina von Bora, Martin Luther's wife, died here in 1552. A Torgau map poster keeps that setting in view: a Renaissance town facing a river that briefly marked the meeting point of two armies.

Hartenfels Castle
The castle complex forms a large, angular footprint beside the river, easy to pick out against the smaller, closely packed lots of the surrounding old town.
Floodplain meadows
East of the Elbe, the map goes almost empty: meadows, old river arms and field paths that make the dense western bank look even more concentrated.

Kwa nini Torgau
Ramani yenye maana
For many people Torgau means a particular chapter of European history, and for others it is simply home, a school town, or somewhere family came from. A print of its streets beside the Elbe works as a quiet, factual reminder of the place without needing a photograph.
You can put a family name, a year or the coordinates on the title lines, then choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The HD download costs $9 and includes six print sizes as 300 DPI PNG and PDF files.
