Yujing is a district in the eastern part of Tainan, in southwestern Taiwan, where the coastal plain rises into the first hills of the Central Mountain Range. On a map its compact town centre sits on lower ground, and roads fan out from there into valleys and along ridges. Rivers and streams run down from the east in winding, branching lines.
Yujing is widely known as Taiwan's mango country. Its orchards cover much of the surrounding hillside, and the district is especially associated with the Irwin variety, which is celebrated every summer at harvest time. From above, the orchards form a fine, irregular pattern across the slopes.
