The Marataoan River
The river that gave the town its old name winds past the built-up area. Vegetation lines its course, and it forms the main natural curve on the map.

Barras Map Poster & Print
Barras lies in northern Piauí, in north-eastern Brazil, north of the state capital, Teresina. Its old full name, Barras do Marataoan, refers to the river that runs past the town. On the map the river traces a winding line beside a compact grid of streets on level ground.
The town is known in Piauí as the land of governors, because an unusually large number of the state's governors have come from here. Around it, the northern backlands open into farmland, babassu palm groves and scrub, crossed by long rural roads leading to neighbouring towns.
A Barras map poster reflects the calm structure of an inland town: a clear centre with its squares and main streets, the river curving at its edge, and open country fading into the margins. In black and white, the balance between the tight grid and the meandering water gives the composition a quiet, well-proportioned look.

Compact grid
Streets in the centre follow a regular pattern of blocks around squares, typical of towns in Piauí and easy to read at poster scale.
Open backlands
Beyond the town, farmland, palm groves and rural roads spread across level ground, leaving spacious, lightly marked margins around the centre.
