Irrigation lines
Straight canals and smaller distributaries cross the plain in long, parallel strokes and divide the farmland into a grid visible for miles around.

Bhan Map Poster & Print
Bhan is a town in Sindh, Pakistan, on the flat alluvial plain west of the Indus. It sits a short distance north of Manchar Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in the country. From above, the settlement is a dense knot of lanes surrounded by a wide grid of irrigated fields.
The whole landscape depends on water. Canals and distributaries cut straight lines across the plain, and field boundaries follow them in long rectangles. A Bhan map poster shows how the town sits inside this engineered pattern, with its irregular streets set against the straight lines of the irrigation around it.
Near the lake, the map gets softer. Wetland edges, seasonal channels and low-lying ground change with the water level from year to year. The result is a composition that is both precise and loose: a small urban core with ruled lines on one side and the uneven shoreline of a great lake to the south.

Toward Manchar Lake
South of town, the land runs down to the wetlands around Manchar Lake, where the map loses its straight lines and turns into soft, irregular edges.
Compact old core
The centre is a tight tangle of narrow lanes and closely packed houses, which prints as a dark, dense patch in the middle of open fields.

Tanba sa Bhan
Mapa ida ho signifikadu
Bhan is the kind of place people carry with them after they move to Karachi, the Gulf or further away. A clean map of its streets and canals says something about belonging without needing a single word, and it gives the town the attention it rarely gets.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed, for a family name or the year someone left. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
