Colonial grid
Straight, even blocks around the main square form a neat pattern at the centre of the map, a classic layout for Mexican towns.

Calvillo Map Poster & Print
Calvillo lies in the west of the state of Aguascalientes, in a warm valley surrounded by mountains. Its centre has the traditional Mexican plan: a regular grid of streets around a main square, with the Church of San José and its large dome on one side. From above, the grid is clear and compact, and it loosens on the slopes at the edges of town.
The valley is known for guava, and Calvillo is often called the guava capital of Mexico. Orchards cover the surrounding land and show on the map as open space between rural roads. The town is also famous for deshilado, a fine traditional drawn-thread embroidery, and has been named a Pueblo Mágico.
A Calvillo map poster shows a colonial grid in the middle of a green valley, with mountain roads winding away over the ridges. The regular blocks, curving outer roads and open orchards make a balanced, graceful print with a clear centre.

Church square
The plaza by the Church of San José is the heart of the grid. It is a small open space that the surrounding streets all point towards.
Valley and ridges
Beyond town, roads twist through the guava orchards and climb the surrounding mountains. Their curves contrast with the straight central grid.
