Kumar River
The Kumar River curves through the Faridpur area, and nearby streets and embankments follow its course. It gives the map a soft, flowing line through the middle.

Farīdpur Map Poster & Print
Farīdpur is the administrative centre of its district in Bangladesh's Dhaka Division, close to the Padma, one of the great rivers of the Bengal delta. The town takes its name from the Sufi saint Shah Farid. On a map, it is less a grid than a set of curving roads that follow the higher ground between water channels.
The Kumar River runs through the area, and the town's streets bend with it. Small ponds and tanks, common across Bengal, appear as clean shapes between the neighbourhoods. To the north, the land drops toward the braided channels and sandbars of the Padma, a landscape that shifts from season to season.
A Farīdpur map poster captures a delta town where water sets the layout. Winding roads, the river's line and the scatter of ponds make a pattern that is hard to mistake for anywhere else. It's also the home district of the poet Jasimuddin, whose verse is closely tied to this rural riverine country.

Ponds and tanks
Dozens of small ponds sit between houses and roads. In black and white they show as solid shapes, a typical feature of towns across the Bengal delta.
Toward the Padma
North of town the ground opens toward the Padma's wide, shifting channels. The riverbank gives the edge of the map a loose, organic outline.
