Fort hill
The rocky hill above the town breaks the street pattern completely. It leaves an open space at the heart of the map that marks the climb to the old fortress.

Gooty Map Poster & Print
Gooty lies in the dry, rocky country of Anantapur district, on the Deccan plateau of southwestern Andhra Pradesh. A steep granite hill rises directly above the town. On a map the streets wrap around the base of that height, leaving a blank patch where the rock climbs toward the summit.
Gooty Fort stands at the top, a sprawling hill fortress with walls, gates and water tanks built over successive periods. It is closely associated with Murari Rao Ghorpade, the Maratha chief who held it in the eighteenth century. From its ramparts the plain spreads out in every direction, dotted with boulders and dry fields.
A Gooty map poster pairs a compact town with the rough, irregular form of the fort hill and the roads and railway running out across the plateau. The place is small but has a clear silhouette, and the contrast between built streets and bare rock gives the map real character on the wall.

Town at the foot
Houses and lanes gather tightly around the base of the hill where the ground levels out, which gives the centre a dense, curving outline.
Lines across the plateau
Highways and the railway cross the surrounding plain in long, straight strokes, linking Gooty with Anantapur, Kurnool and the nearby junction at Guntakal.

Mapa ida ho signifikadu
Anyone from Gooty knows the fort hill as the fixed point of every view in town. On a map it becomes the centre of the composition. That makes the poster a reminder of home for families across Andhra Pradesh and abroad, and a fine piece for people who love old forts.
The title and subtitle are yours to write, with room for a family name or a date, and the coordinates can be kept or changed. Sand and Paper suit the dry Deccan setting. Classic black & white, Noir and Blueprint are also available.
