River confluence
Small rivers wind through the town and meet near the center. Their curving lines and bridges give the map its strongest natural feature.

Gusev Map Poster & Print
Gusev lies in the east of Russia's Kaliningrad Oblast, not far from the Lithuanian border. Until 1946 it was the German town of Gumbinnen. It was renamed after Captain Sergei Gusev, a Soviet officer who fell nearby in 1945. On a map the town sits where the Pissa River and a smaller tributary meet, and their curves frame the older streets.
The pre-war layout still shapes the center. It has a fairly regular grid, with streets running toward the river crossings and a broad main axis through town. Outside the center, blocks of later housing and the railway line to Kaliningrad and Lithuania add different textures. Farmland and small woods surround the town on all sides.
The town's name is known in military history from the Battle of Gumbinnen in August 1914, one of the first major engagements on the Eastern Front. A Gusev map poster shows the place today through its streets, bridges and river bends. It is a layered image for people with Russian, German or Lithuanian family connections to the region.

Planned old center
The historic core follows a largely regular street pattern from the town's Prussian period. It forms a tidy grid next to the water.
Railway corridor
The main line between Kaliningrad and the Lithuanian border crosses the town. It adds a long, gently curving line through the composition.

Gusev means different things to different families: home in the Kaliningrad region, a lost Gumbinnen, or a name from 1914. A plain map lets each viewer bring their own story to it.
You can title the poster Gusev, Gumbinnen or both, add a year in the subtitle and keep the coordinates. Pick one of five styles, then download the HD files or order a print on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
