The Meuse
The wide river runs through the map and separates Jambes from central Namur. This broad, calm band gives the composition its main structure.

Jambes Map Poster & Print
Jambes is a district of Namur in Wallonia, Belgium. It lies on the right bank of the Meuse, opposite the historic centre of the city. Across the water are the Citadel of Namur, on its rocky spur, and the confluence where the Sambre joins the Meuse. Jambes was a separate municipality until it merged with Namur in 1977, and it still has its own identity.
From above, the Meuse is the main feature: a wide, slow river crossed by bridges connecting Jambes with the old town. Along the riverbank, the streets of Jambes form a denser grid. Further back, the land rises toward wooded slopes and residential areas on higher ground. Quays and riverside paths follow the curve of the Meuse.
A Jambes map poster places the district in its setting, across from one of Belgium's best-known river cityscapes. The river divides the frame, the bridges tie the two banks together and the citadel's spur appears on the far side. It is a strong composition built around one wide stretch of water.

Bridges to Namur
Several crossings link Jambes with the old town. These short, strong lines across the water show how closely the district is tied to the city.
Citadel opposite
The citadel's spur and the Sambre confluence sit on the far bank. Their outlines give the map a recognisable landmark just across the river.
