Kamenz Map Poster & Print
Kamenz is a town in Saxony, in the region of Upper Lusatia between Dresden and the Polish border. It sits on the Schwarze Elster river, and its historic centre lies on higher ground above the valley. From above, the old town is a compact oval of streets around the market square, with church towers marking its edges.
The town is best known as the birthplace of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, the Enlightenment dramatist and critic, and a museum dedicated to him is here. To the east rises the Hutberg, a wooded hill with a park known for its rhododendrons. The newer districts spread out around the old centre in a looser pattern.
A Kamenz map poster shows the classic shape of a Central European market town: a dense medieval core, a river valley and streets radiating out to the villages of Lusatia. The contrast between the tight centre and the green hill gives the composition a pleasing balance.

Schwarze Elster
The Black Elster river runs through the valley below the old town, a winding line that sets the western edge of the historic centre.
Hutberg hill
The wooded Hutberg rises east of the centre with its park and paths. It forms a green counterweight to the built-up streets.
