Mining districts
Separate districts grew up around individual mines. On the map they look like islands of streets connected by long roads across open ground.

Khrustalnyi Map Poster & Print
Khrustalnyi, long known as Krasnyi Luch, lies in Luhansk oblast in eastern Ukraine, on the uplands of the Donets Ridge. From above, it doesn't have a single centre. It is a group of districts and former mining settlements joined by roads and railway spurs, and between them lie open land, small reservoirs and the conical spoil heaps typical of the Donbas coalfield.
Coal mining shaped the town from the start, and the layout still follows the old mines. Clusters of housing sit next to industrial sites, with long roads connecting them across the hills. Ukraine's parliament gave the town its current name in 2016 as part of the removal of Soviet-era names. The area has been under Russian occupation since 2014.
A Khrustalnyi map poster records the particular geography of a mining town. Instead of a neat grid, there are scattered districts, winding roads, rail lines and water bodies across rolling ground. In black and white, that fragmented pattern becomes striking. For people who come from here and cannot easily go back, it can be an important way of keeping the place close.

Spoil heaps
The conical waste heaps left by coal mining are among the most recognisable landmarks of the Donbas. They appear as distinct shapes in the landscape around the town.
Donets Ridge
The town lies on the rolling uplands of the ridge, so roads curve with the terrain and small reservoirs fill the valleys between districts.

Mapa ida ho signifikadu
Many people from Khrustalnyi have had to leave, and a map is one of the few things that can hold the whole town at once: the streets, the mines and the way home. It is a quiet, serious object for a wall.
You choose the title yourself, either Khrustalnyi or Krasnyi Luch, and you can add a date or a line in the subtitle. Then pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
