Archipelago coastline
The southern shore splinters into bays, peninsulas and small islands. In black and white these become a dense lace of outlines that contrasts with the calmer inland areas.

Kirkkonummi Map Poster & Print
Kirkkonummi, known in Swedish as Kyrkslätt, stretches along the Gulf of Finland just west of Espoo. It is a bilingual municipality with a small historic centre around its medieval stone church, and much of its land is forest, fields and lakes. From above, the coastline is its most striking feature, deeply indented with bays, headlands and countless islands.
The Porkkala peninsula at its southern tip has an unusual history. After the Second World War it was leased to the Soviet Union as a naval base. Finns could not enter the area from 1944 until it was returned in 1956. Today it is a quiet landscape of shoreline paths, villages and summer houses.
A Kirkkonummi map poster makes the most of that ragged edge between land and sea. Roads and the railway cross the inland area in long, flowing lines, while the shore breaks into fragments along the bottom of the frame. The composition feels more like an archipelago than a town, which suits the place well.

Porkkala peninsula
Porkkala reaches into the Gulf of Finland at the municipality's southern end. Once leased to the Soviet Union, it now appears on the map as a quiet spread of lanes and coves.
Church village centre
The municipal centre grew around a medieval stone church. Its compact streets and the railway line toward Helsinki form the main built-up area inland.

Many people from the Helsinki area spend summers by the sea in Kirkkonummi, or move there for more space and nature. A map poster keeps the shape of the coast, the cottage roads and the islands close long after the season ends.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with the name of a summer place and the year. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and get 300 DPI PNG and PDF files in six sizes for $9.
