Lier Map Poster & Print
Lier lies in the province of Antwerp, where the Grote Nete and Kleine Nete rivers meet. Its historic centre is enclosed by a ring of former ramparts, now a green belt and a line of roads and water. On a map, that ring gives the town a clear, almost oval outline, with the rivers and canals crossing through it.
Inside the ring, the streets converge on the Grote Markt and its belfry, part of a UNESCO listing of Belgian belfries. Lier's beguinage, also a World Heritage Site, is a small quarter of narrow lanes. The Zimmer Tower, with its astronomical clock, stands near the water on the edge of the old centre.
A Lier map poster shows a medieval town plan that is still easy to read. The ring of ramparts, the rivers and the canals frame a dense core of curving streets, while newer districts spread outside the green belt. It is one of the most balanced compositions a small European town can offer.

The two Netes
The Grote and Kleine Nete meet at Lier, and their channels and canals weave through and around the historic centre.
The beguinage
A small grid of narrow lanes near the ring marks the beguinage, a quiet, tightly knit quarter with a distinctive pattern.
