Tao River course
The Tao River runs through the valley and shapes the town completely, with the main streets following its banks for much of their length.

Liulin Map Poster & Print
Liulin is the seat of Jonê County in the Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Gansu, set in the valley of the Tao River at the north-eastern edge of the Tibetan plateau. Mountains rise on either side, and the town has grown lengthways along the river, with streets running parallel to the water and only a little room to spread outward.
That setting gives the map a strong direction. The river draws a long curve across the sheet, the town follows it in a narrow band, and bridges link the two banks at intervals. Beyond the last buildings, roads climb into valleys that lead to villages and monasteries in the surrounding highlands.
A Liulin map poster turns this linear valley town into a clear, graphic image. The river and the parallel streets give it a natural rhythm, and the steep ground on either side keeps the whole composition focused.

Linear town plan
Squeezed between mountain slopes, Liulin stretches out in a long, narrow band, giving the poster an unusual elongated form rather than a round centre.
Valley bridges
Bridges cross the river at several points, connecting the two sides of town and adding short, firm lines across the flowing curve of the water.
