Lake Zarivar
The long freshwater lake west of town is the defining feature of the map. Its smooth outline sits right beside the street grid and makes a striking pale shape on the page.

Marīvān Map Poster & Print
Marīvān lies in a high valley in Iran's Kurdistan Province, close to the border with Iraq. From above, the town is a compact grid of streets laid across the valley floor. On all sides it is bounded by the steep folds of the Zagros Mountains, whose ridges channel the roads that lead in and out. The surrounding terrain gives the map a strong, enclosed feel.
Just west of the town lies Lake Zarivar, a freshwater lake fringed with reeds and backed by wooded slopes. It is one of the best-known natural sights in the region. Marīvān is also a busy trading town, shaped by its position near the border crossing and by the cross-border markets that draw shoppers from across western Iran.
A Marīvān map poster pairs two very different shapes. There is the dense rectangular web of the town, and next to it the smooth elongated form of the lake. Mountain roads curve around ridgelines at the edges of the frame. In monochrome, the lake becomes a calm, solid mass against the busy streets, and the composition feels balanced and quietly dramatic.

Valley-floor grid
The town's streets are laid out fairly regularly across the flat valley floor. The result is a dense block of lines, neatly held in place by the surrounding slopes.
Zagros approaches
Roads into Marīvān wind through the folded mountains. Their curves at the edges of the map contrast with the straight lines of the town centre.

Marīvān is remembered for its lake, its mountains and its markets. A map of the town suits anyone with roots in Kurdistan, or anyone who walked along the shores of Zarivar and wants to keep that setting close.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line in any wording you like, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint gives the lake and ridges a crisp, technical look.
