Takatsu River mouth
The river curves across the plain and widens as it meets the Sea of Japan. It is the strongest natural line on the map and sets the city's orientation.

Masuda Map Poster & Print
Masuda sits at the western end of Shimane Prefecture, where a narrow coastal plain opens between the mountains and the Sea of Japan. The Takatsu River, often named among the clearest rivers in Japan, winds down from the interior and reaches the sea here. So does the smaller Masuda River. The city's streets fill the flat ground between the two, with steep wooded hills close behind.
The city is linked to two famous figures. One is the fifteenth-century painter Sesshū, and gardens attributed to him survive at the temples of Ikō-ji and Manpuku-ji. The other is the classical poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro, who is honoured at a local shrine. A newer landmark is the Shimane Arts Center, known as Grand Toit, roofed in local reddish Sekishu tiles.
A Masuda map poster brings river mouths, coastline and a compact urban plain into one frame. The rivers draw soft curves toward the sea, and the coast adds a long, clean edge. The hills leave the rest of the sheet as an open, quiet field. It is a balanced map that suits minimalist interiors.

Sea of Japan coast
A long, gently curving shoreline runs along the northern edge. It gives the poster a clean boundary between the dense street pattern and the open water.
Temple gardens
Ikō-ji and Manpuku-ji, both linked with Sesshū, sit where the streets meet the hills. They are small precincts at the edge of the wider urban grid.
