Main road spine
Most of the town's streets gather around the principal road. It gives the map a clear central axis from which the neighbourhoods extend.

Mene Grande Map Poster & Print
Mene Grande lies in the state of Zulia, on the lowlands east of Lake Maracaibo. On a map it looks like a spread-out settlement rather than a place with a dense centre. Residential streets follow the main roads, with gaps left by former oil installations and open land. The land around it is flat and green, crossed by tracks and small streams that drain toward the lake.
The town holds an important place in Venezuelan history. In 1914 the Zumaque I well struck oil here. It was the first commercially significant oil discovery in the country and the start of the industry that would transform Venezuela's economy. The name comes from mene, a local word for the natural oil seeps known in the area long before drilling began.
A Mene Grande map poster presents a place whose importance far exceeds its size. The loose street pattern, the main roads and the open land around the town form a quiet, understated composition. It suits people from Zulia, people who worked in the oil industry and anyone interested in the places where modern Venezuela began.

Oilfield traces
Access roads and cleared sites from the old oilfield appear as straight tracks and open patches around the town. They are quiet reminders of how the town began.
Lowland setting
Flat land stretches from the settlement toward Lake Maracaibo, crossed by small streams and rural roads. These fill the edges of the poster with fine lines.
