Serra da Mesa arms
The reservoir spreads through the drowned valleys in long, branching inlets. Seen from above, its complex outline is the most striking feature of the region.

Minaçu Map Poster & Print
Minaçu is in the far north of Goiás, in central Brazil. Water defines its map. The Serra da Mesa reservoir, one of the largest artificial lakes in the country, spreads across the valleys nearby in long, finger-like arms. The Cana Brava dam, further down the Tocantins river system, adds another area of dammed water to the region.
The town has also been closely tied to mining. For decades a large chrysotile mine operated nearby, a history that has been the subject of national debate in Brazil. A Minaçu map poster keeps to what the landscape shows: a compact street grid, the roads that serve it, and the irregular shorelines of the flooded valleys.
In black and white, the reservoir's branching shape becomes the main subject, surrounding the small urban area. The print shows a place where rivers were reshaped into lakes and where the town still sits at the edge of wide, open cerrado.

Compact street grid
Minaçu's town centre is a regular grid of blocks. It is neat and clearly bounded, and much smaller in scale than the water around it.
Cerrado surroundings
Beyond the town and the lakes, the open savanna of central Brazil leaves much of the frame empty. A few roads run across it.

Tanba sa Minaçu
Mapa ida ho signifikadu
Minaçu is remote, and people who have lived there remember both the town and the huge stretches of water around it. A map poster captures that unusual setting in a single view.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital files cost $9. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
