Templar castle
The castle occupies a prominent position above the river at the edge of the old town, its outline standing out among the narrow medieval streets.

Ponferrada Map Poster & Print
Ponferrada lies in the Bierzo basin in the northwest of Castile and León, surrounded by mountains. On a map the old town sits on a rise above the Sil River near its meeting with the Boeza, while newer districts spread across the river in a more regular pattern of avenues and blocks.
The town's name comes from an iron-reinforced bridge built in the eleventh century for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago, which still passes through the centre. Above the river stands the castle of the Knights Templar, one of the best-known medieval fortresses in Spain.
A Ponferrada map poster shows how river, hill and pilgrimage route shape the town. The Sil draws a strong curve through the frame, the tight streets of the old quarter gather around the castle, and the modern expansion extends in ordered lines beyond the water.

Sil and Boeza rivers
The Sil curves through the town and meets the Boeza nearby, and the bridges across them connect the old quarter with the newer districts.
Camino route
The French Way of the Camino de Santiago passes through the centre, following a path that has crossed Ponferrada for nearly a thousand years.

Tanba sa Ponferrada
Mapa ida ho signifikadu
Ponferrada is a meaningful stop for pilgrims who walked the Camino, and a home for people from El Bierzo living elsewhere in Spain. A map of the town marks a journey or a heritage in a quiet, lasting way.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the date you reached the town on the Camino, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper suits the medieval quarter and river.
