São Desidério Map Poster & Print
São Desidério lies in western Bahia, in the cerrado country west of the São Francisco River, close to Barreiras and to the fast-growing city of Luís Eduardo Magalhães. The municipality is very large, but the town at its centre is small, a modest arrangement of streets along a river valley. The true scale appears only when the map zooms out across the plateau.
The municipality ranks among Brazil's leading producers of soybeans and cotton, and much of its land is given over to large mechanised farms. It is also known for a karst landscape of limestone caves, sinkholes and clear blue pools that draw cave explorers and divers. Those two sides, industrial agriculture and delicate underground geology, give the area an unusual double character.
A São Desidério map poster can show the town's quiet streets tucked into their valley, or pull back to reveal the huge, ruled parcels of farmland that surround it. Either way, the contrast between human geometry and natural contour makes for a strong design, one that speaks directly to the story of Brazil's agricultural frontier.

River-valley town
The town itself sits lower, along a river, its compact streets following the valley and standing apart from the flat farmland above.
Karst country
Limestone terrain in the municipality holds caves, sinkholes and spring-fed pools, landscape features that give the area a reputation among explorers.
