Danube bend
The young Danube curves through Sigmaringen in a broad arc, giving the map a flowing central line that the rest of the town arranges itself around.

Sigmaringen Map Poster & Print
Sigmaringen lies on the upper Danube in Baden-Württemberg, where the river leaves the limestone gorges of the Swabian Jura and enters a wider valley. The Danube bends through the town in a clear curve, and the old centre sits close to the water. Schloss Sigmaringen rises on a rock above the river, and the historic streets gather at its foot.
The town was the seat of the princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, and the castle remains its best-known landmark. In the final months of the Second World War, the castle briefly housed the exiled Vichy French government, an unusual episode that still draws historians. Today the town is also a regional administrative centre and a stop for travellers cycling the Danube path.
A Sigmaringen map poster shows the relationship between river, rock and town with unusual clarity. The Danube curves through the frame, the old town clusters beside it, and newer districts spread across the flatter land beyond. Railway lines and roads follow the valley. In black and white, the composition is simple and strong, with the river as its main gesture.

Castle rock
Schloss Sigmaringen sits on a steep outcrop beside the river, and the compact old town fits into the space between the rock and the surrounding slopes.
Valley corridors
Rail lines and roads follow the valley floor in parallel strokes, tying the town to the upper Danube and to the rest of the Swabian countryside.

Mapa ida ho signifikadu
Sigmaringen draws people who studied, served or grew up there, as well as travellers who cycled the Danube and stopped beneath the castle. A map of the town preserves that setting in a precise, understated form.
