Historic town core
The old centre, linked to medieval Mayyafariqin, has denser and more irregular streets than the surrounding districts, forming the darkest cluster on the map.

Silvan Map Poster & Print
Silvan lies in the eastern part of Diyarbakır Province in southeastern Turkey, on rolling ground between the Tigris basin and the mountains to the north. The town is widely identified with medieval Mayyafariqin, which served as a capital of the Marwanid dynasty, and parts of its old walls survive. On a map, the older core stands out as a tighter, more irregular tangle of streets.
Around that core, newer districts spread in looser blocks, and roads leave the town toward surrounding villages and farmland. Within the wider district, the Malabadi Bridge crosses the Batman River with a single, very large stone arch built in the twelfth century, one of the best-known historic bridges in the region.
A Silvan map poster shows the layers of a very old settlement in simple lines: the compact historic centre, the modern growth around it and the roads fanning out into the countryside. Printed in black and white, those contrasts become easy to see, and the map reads as a record of how a place has kept growing on the same ground for many centuries.

Malabadi Bridge
This twelfth-century bridge in the district crosses the Batman River with one broad stone arch and is among the most admired medieval bridges in Anatolia.
Roads into the countryside
Routes leave the town in several directions across open farmland, linking it to villages and to Diyarbakır, and giving the composition a radiating outline.
