Oasis layout
Irrigated land around the town is divided into rectangular plots by channels and tree rows, giving the map an orderly, geometric texture.

Zepu Map Poster & Print
Zepu is a county-level town in the Kashgar prefecture of Xinjiang, in the far west of China. It lies in an oasis on the western edge of the Tarim Basin, near the Yarkand River, where water from the mountains to the south and west makes farming possible on the rim of the Taklamakan Desert.
The map of an oasis town has a distinctive logic. Irrigation channels and rows of trees divide the land into regular plots, roads follow those same lines, and the town itself is a dense cluster within a green area whose boundaries are set by water. Beyond, the landscape becomes open and arid.
A Zepu map poster translates that pattern into a clear graphic: the compact centre, the straight roads and field boundaries of the oasis, and the lines of river and canals linking everything. It gives a place far from the usual map collections the same careful attention as any capital.

Yarkand River
The river system that feeds the oasis runs nearby, supplying water drawn from the mountains to the fields around Zepu.
Desert margin
Beyond the cultivated land the Tarim Basin opens toward the Taklamakan, so the town's green area has a sharp outer edge.

Zepu is not a place many people know, which makes a map of it personal by definition. It speaks to those who grew up there, worked there or travelled along the southern Silk Road routes through Kashgar.
