Águas Belas Map Poster & Print
Águas Belas is a municipality in the interior of Pernambuco in northeastern Brazil, in the transitional zone between the agreste and the semi-arid sertão. The town itself is compact, with a grid of streets around its central church and square. Around it, the map opens into rolling countryside of caatinga scrub and farmland, crossed by long rural roads and seasonal watercourses.
The municipality is home to the Fulni-ô, an Indigenous people whose territory lies next to the town. The Fulni-ô are known for keeping their own language, Yathê, which is unusual in northeastern Brazil. On the map, the town and the Indigenous lands sit side by side, and the modest street pattern gives way quickly to open ground.
An Águas Belas map poster shows a small settlement within a wide, dry landscape. The empty space around it is as important as the streets. It is a meaningful print for families from the town who now live in Recife or São Paulo, and for anyone who knows the northeastern interior.

Rural roads
Long roads and tracks lead out across the countryside to farms and neighbouring towns, drawing thin lines through the open land.
Caatinga landscape
Wide expanses of dry scrubland surround the town, giving the print generous empty space and emphasising how compact the built-up area is.
