The town core
Albal's older streets form a close-knit centre, and newer residential grids extend outward until they reach the fields or the edges of the neighbouring towns.

Albal Map Poster
Albal belongs to L'Horta Sud, the ring of towns just south of Valencia. On a map it appears as a compact, fairly regular block of streets with the neighbouring municipalities close by, while the remaining land is split into the narrow, parcelled fields of the huerta, Valencia's historic irrigated farmland.
That field pattern is one of the most distinctive things about the area from above. Small plots are divided by paths and acequias, the irrigation channels that have watered this plain for centuries. East of the town the land flattens toward the rice fields and lagoon of the Albufera, so water is present on the map even where it is hard to see.
An Albal map poster shows a town that has kept its own centre while sitting within Valencia's metropolitan orbit. The dense old core, the newer blocks around it and the fine-grained farmland at the edges make a composition that is busy but orderly.

Huerta parcels
Around the town, small irrigated plots and the paths between them create a delicate, almost textile pattern that looks especially good in fine black line.
Rail and road corridors
Major transport lines heading south from Valencia pass near the town, drawing strong straight lines across the flat plain.
