Badi is a town in Raisen district in central Madhya Pradesh, in the country between the Vindhya hills and the Narmada valley to the south. The landscape is mostly cultivated, with fields of wheat and pulses broken up by rocky outcrops, streams and patches of dry forest. The town serves as a market centre for the surrounding villages.
From above, the settlement is compact and dense in the middle, where the bazaar lanes are closely packed. It is looser toward the edges, where newer houses follow the roads outward. The regional roads passing through are the clearest lines on the map. Around them, field boundaries and village tracks form a fine texture in every direction.
