Baléyara lies in the Tillabéri Region of western Niger, in the dry Sahel country northeast of Niamey. The town is best known across the region for its large weekly market. Traders, herders and buyers come from the surrounding villages and further afield, and livestock and grain change hands alongside everyday goods.
