Bélabo is a town in Cameroon's East Region, on the Transcameroon railway that links Yaoundé with Ngaoundéré in the north. From above, the town grows along the railway line and the station area. Residential streets branch out on either side, and forest and farmland surround it, with the Sanaga River basin nearby.
The railway has shaped the town since the line reached it in the 1970s. Bélabo became a transfer point for timber and goods from the eastern forests, and stations, yards and depots mark its layout. The Lom Pangar dam, built upstream in the region, has added a large reservoir to the wider landscape.
